January 2003:The next version of JOD will be designed using 3D modeling software provided by SolidWorks. This
will allow us to test the strength of the design and more closely predict the final robot weight.
Some pieces will be directly CNC machined from the SolidWorks models.
May 2002: We're frantically getting ready for episode 5. Most notable new addition is an electric starter motor for the engine. Other modifications include one-piece construction of top jaw and bottom plates, and an all-new control system custom designed and built by Curt and Dallas.
12 November 2001: Well, episode 4.0 has come and gone and Curt and Amy survived through it. So did the Jaws of Death. After a lot of sleep and salvaging the mess we've made of house and jobs we'll update this site with pics and details.
Shorter jaws, all aluminum super-compact frame, custom hydraulic and gas tanks. Official weight at Treasure Island 4.0 is 291 lbs, way underweight.
